Loved T-Shirt! GRADUATION POST
What a fun, gratifying program. Good payback in muscle tone. If only diet had been more on track, but too hard in our short Canadian summers.
Would love a program that combines elements of t-shirt, beach, kbells. Anything in the works?
Leaving for Italy Sunday, so trying to squeeze in some of the workouts I missed from the program before I leave. Ergo my grad post is pending. Stay tuned!
Because I want to show off my strong arms! (Although they don’t look so strong in this photo lol.)
Most of this isn't new, although the nut milk + turmeric tip I hadn't heard. Never hurts to occasionally have these reminders about sleep hygiene.
FD, if you're reading this, note the Netflix and Chill section. ;)
Summers in Canada are so short, it feels like we pack in a whole year of socializing into just a few months.
This past week saw an afternoon wedding and a night away for a decadent dinner at an amazing resort an hour outside Toronto (Langdon Hall.) The Thursday wedding meant I couldn't work out (couldn't ruin the hairstyle from the day before - ladies, who's with me?) and Saturday was such a treat - kid-free!!! - and an extravagant multi-course dinner and drinks bankrolled by our friends.
Langdon Hall has an amazing herb and vegetable garden in which I spent a couple of hours Sunday morning shooting video for my new entertainment, the "cinemagraph." Then I had the pool to myself and quite enjoyed the laps until it occurred to me it might not have been the best exercise for resting my traps, but oh well.
Really enjoying the program, despite my own eating challenges and missed workouts. I would love to see a longer cross-training program that combines t-shirt, beach blast, kettlebells and...?? Thoughts?
We were fortunate enough this weekend to be invited to a cottage near Minden, about 2.5 hours outside Toronto. Unsurprisingly, wasn't a great eating or drinking weekend. While I couldn't do the Day 6 arms workout, I did run 5k over hilly terrain, my first run in ages. It was so crazy hot - about 33C with 100% (??) humidity - that I was completely soaked upon my return. So I took off my shoes and jumped in the lake, which was a perfect temperature. More swimming throughout the weekend and lots of relaxing time. Maybe not great for the stomach, but good for the soul.
This is the view of the dock before I jumped in.
Happy to be back on program after the stomach bug derailment during Bells. And boy do I need it! Upper body is Not. Very. Strong.
Found today a little hard on the wrists, too. Any substitute for the pikes?
What can I say? Not a marquee week. Tuesday and Wednesday had two separate work toad trips (min 9 hours in the car), so no workout. Thursday kid came down with what I assume is a norovirus, so no sleep Thursday night. Then it hit me Saturday afternoon and since then I have had a few pieces of watermelon, one cookie (too sweet) and 2 mouthfuls of rice, and I’m wiped. Let’s hope tomorrow is better. Happy Canada Day everyone!
Didn’t do the bells workout on Saturday as the weekend was fully dedicated to major gardening: moving rocks, relocating heavy bags of limestone, planting trees, digging holes. Yesterday morning I spent 2.5 hours digging up a variegated grass that had practically fused with the rocks in the garden. Feeling achy today and hands are sore. Hopefully can hoist bells later!
Things are finally starting to resume normalcy after the NBA Championships. Strange not having basketball to watch.
Enjoying the new gym. Love that it’s literally around the block. Enjoying Bells 1 again as well. Powering through the cycles is fun! But boy oh boy, that 1/4 lb rope is tough....
I know I’ve been very subtle about sharing where I am or my sports allegiance, but in case there’s any doubt, I am from Toronto, and in Toronto, and proudly a Toronto Raptors fan, still (!) recovering from the 2-month playoff run that kept me up late too many nights, with raging cortisol and adrenaline.
When I’m not watching basketball, I am a management consultant / entrepreneur, a wife to Frank D (also doing Bells), and mom to our 7 year-old daughter. This is my second Bells 1 tour of duty, but it had been a while so I wanted to start fresh. I like the bells because they’re accessible and I feel strong swinging them around.
In August we are going to Italy, so trying to get back in shape so that I can enjoy a vacation filled with pizza, pasta and wine. I’m not a big ice cream fan, but as I’m travelling with two people who are, I am on a mission to try the weirdest gelato flavours.
What’s the weirdest flavours you’ve tried?
Happy to be back on the bells. Trying out a new rope (Crossrope) which is considerably heavier than my RX. Glad it’s only 5 minutes at a time!
Watching the Raptors now. A win tonight could spell disaster for tomorrow’s workout, but delirium for the City. I’ll take the trade off.
Blast - done! GRADUATION POST
What could be better than finishing a program and watching the Raptors in Game 2 of the NBA finals? Eating some salt n vinegar chips as a reward?
Really enjoyed this program. Was very out of shape at the start, but I stuck with it and noticed a big improvement in my fitness. Diet was pretty good and I’m happy with the results, although I view this as phase 1 with 2.5 months to go until the Big Trip to Italy. Today, however, is a night off.
Skipping while watching photography lessons made a remarkable difference in my overall enjoyment. I wasn’t clock watching as intensely.
If there’s one thing I didn’t love it was the size of the group. It demands a significant time commitment to be equally responsive to all team members, so I apologize for not having the ability to do that. Sara and Kenzai Sister, thanks for the support!
All in all, a great program, and I would do it again as a reboot for sure.
So, what next?
