It has been a while since I got out my instruments of torture - Spikey Ball and Spikey Roller. Such a love hate relationship, but tonight the 3 of us are going to have a D&M.
Anyone else love/hate the spikes?
Shuffling my workouts around a bit this week to accomodate the weather....nervous about my timed trial!
It dumped snow all day in Tokyo yesterday and the landscape this morning was magical. Unfortunately it meant I had to take my workout indoors but I will be back out pounding the pavement at 5am tomorrow in subzero temperatures now that the streets have been cleared. It is not a common or usual event to snow so much in Tokyo!!
This week’s performance has been dismal. I finished Run10 on a high last Nov and was steadily shaving off seconds post program. I felt strong and confident. Then I got bulldozed by illness and my running has been flat as a pancake since (pun intended). I am still sick and my running still suck. But I am done cyber mopping after reading the blogs and Matt’s trainer shout this week. Thanks for the kick up the behind team. It was better than red bull.
Ski Boot dusted GRADUATION POST
Happy New Year to all and apologies for the belated graduation post.
Ski Boot was great. I did find that I was less disciplined with my diet. I ate clean but there was more small indulgences. I worked hard on the exercises and continued to work on the running techniques I learned at Kenzai Run10. My legs are definitely stronger and my core has made some progress.
Thoroughly enjoyed it and a shout out to our trainers too for theor energy and enthusiasm! I was very impressed with the professional, effective and detailed advice I received every time I reached out. Thank you. It made a HUGE difference to my training.
...has always been the most insanely cool free styling jump for me.
Still love sitting at the bar after a full day carving it up and knocking back a few hard earned drinks whilst watching all the crazy footages of skiers and boarders perform death defying stunts.
Somehow witnessing my (nearly) 2 year old son perform death defying stunts at home and on the playground does not inspire the same thrills!!
One of my most memorable location runs this year was on the shores of Lake Biwa in Shiga Prefecture. It is the largest freshwater lake in Japan with a shoreline of nearly 250km. I always love to run in the early hours of the morning when everything is still and quiet....argh the serenity! Aussies out there - name the movie I just quoted!!
No points for originality for the second location run but boy did I set a PB.....for how much I can sweat!
The rain clouds parted today and it felt like Mosses parted the Red Sea to me!
My first time to do farlek and found that it much easier to power up leaning in. I had to constantly check my form though because I naturally leaned back (especially as I tired) and it is like putting on the brakes.
Great run. Enjoyed it...although not sure what part of "comfortable effort" is actually comfortable 🤔
Took JT for a spin around the Imperial Palace on my pre-dawn free run. It was an exhilarating 17.5km. Fall is a gorgeous running weather in Tokyo.
No I didn't do that distance in 25mins but I can run forever at an easy pace. That's because running for me is freedom from the shackles of corproate life and head space. I lace up and tune out. The physical exertion is also stress relief.
But what I have in endurance I lack in power and speed and that's what I hope to achieve in this program.
Perhaps I am peaking the KB1 mountain. Ripped through 3 continuous sets of 9 mins jump rope with only a few hiccups and got to a PB of 1,450 skips in my first set. The strength exercises felt great in that my back muscles felt like they were quivering (if that is possible?) and Captain's Chair always make me feel like a total bad ass because I haven't seen any other ladies at my gym use the U shaped bars 😉
Felt like a win today after being rather deflated the past couple of weeks. Partly because I am envious of all the wonderful results the group has achieved and partly because i haven't been able to find that work life balance of late. Haven't let my workouts or diet slip though...well maybe there was a glass or 2 of Champange and some peanut butter on whole wheat crackers but I call it survival.
