Dropped a 10lb plate on my big toe as I was setting up for my first lift this morning. So much pain. Can still move the toe so hope that means nothing is broken. Clumsy idiot!
The summer sales are on in hk and I was meandering through the stores yesterday trying on a few things. Found a jacket that I really really liked. Tried it on. The fit was perfect across the chest and waist and the length was just right. BUT the upper arms were TOO TIGHT!!!! The sales assistant suggested not wearing a shirt underneath. Not helpful.
So excited that the program is definitely working for me and I am building up some muscle. Question: after the program do I need to continue lifting weights? If I don’t (because I want to try Blast) will the muscle that I have built up turn to fat?
Had a lovely anniversary dinner the other night. So easy to be kenzai compliant in NISEKO...except for the yummy dairy desserts...
Travel day today. As we got close to the airport my youngest declared she needed to use the bathroom - immediately - as she forgot to go before we left the house. Unfortunately the traffic was ridiculous and we kept begging her to please hold. As soon as the car stopped at the terminal I grabbed her and started running for the toilets. She is a delightfully chubby wubby 4 yr old. The bathrooms were some distance away and I didn’t stop running til I got her into a cubicle. She made it just in time. I don’t think I would have been able to run carrying my 18kg child 55 days ago! Strong is so much better than skinny, especially if you can avoid little accidents..
A colleague told me the other day that I was looking chunkier. Not quite the progress I was hoping for...
Super excited to report that today I did bench presses using the barbell - not light dumbbells or the machine, but the real thing. Didn’t use any plates and my form was shocking but am just thrilled that I was able to do it. After the first set I put the barbell back on the rack unevenly and someone rushed over to help which was so kind - must have been alerted by all the grunting. And yesterday Mike M kindly helped me to put on my plates for one of the exercises - yes, my 2.5 lb plates... people at the gym are so nice.
Father’s Day weekend and I totally fell off the diet wagon. Uuugghh. The food wasn’t unhealthy, just not Kenzai compliant and I just had far too much of it.
Ah, today’s lesson explains sooo much. Now I understand why I did so well in KB1: I did it outdoors in NISEKO over the summer, I had only 2 kids (not 3), and I didn’t have an intense full time job. It seems the stress levels have increased with each program I have done and my guilt free available time has decreased.
Just read the lesson for today. To fit in my Iron workout I have to hit the gym before work and I don’t eat breakfast til I get to the office so have been working out on an empty stomach. I have such few muscles as it is I certainly don’t want to be catabolising them - guess I will be trying to eat my snack in the taxi en route.
took my youngest to soccer on Saturday. There were only 4 kids. At the end of the lesson the kids were paired up for a “match”. The 2 boys were together and even though they were only 4 they really went for the ball and had better footwork than I could manage. My daughter was with her best friend and one girl would kick the ball and they would both walk together almost holding hands towards the goal and take turns kicking it in. Ah the difference between boys and girls at this age...
This morning I headed to the gym despite the rain telling me to stay in bed. Did my workout. Was sweaty and did a lot of loud exhaling. Yep, thought I was pretty tough stuff. Then I remembered I was wearing a T-shirt that said LOVE spelled out in flowers and I was only using 5lb plates...
Had a group workout session during lunch the other day. Just as I was getting ready to leave someone came to me saying, “Sorry I know you are just about to head out but I need a quick bit of advice. Should only take a minute”.
In the entire history of Work, a quick bit of advice has NEVER taken only a minute!
Needless to say, I missed the workout. GRRRRR
I have been dressing myself every day for over 40 years and thought I had mastered this skill. But I learnt a few new things this week:
1. Don’t wear a dress with a zipper at the back or anything that needs to be pulled over your head when it’s an arms or chest day.
2. Sit down when trying to put on underpants, shorts or other bottoms on a legs day.
Getting dressed has been embarrassing and humbling this week: I have gone to work with my dress halfway zipped, gotten stuck in my sports bra and banged my head when I tripped while trying to change out of my shorts. The less than glamorous side of being a Kenzai warrior...
Crappy start to the day. My rope kept curling while I was trying to skip this morning so after tripping for the 5th time in like 30 seconds I stepped on it and yanked the handle in a stupid attempt to straighten the kinks in it. Big mistake. Ended up pulling off the entire handle and now can’t find the little nuts and bolts that went flying off. Doh! Had to hop on the elliptical machine again. Clearly violence does not pay! But on the bright side it’s pretty cool that I am strong enough to pull the handle off.
