Apols for radio silence - Been travelling with work, haven’t had the gym at my disposal but have been running like Forest Gump! Back to HK tomorrow & crushing it for the last 20 days!
Wasn’t quite how I planned to finish the program out, but been on a flight every day this past week from HKG to Taiwan / Korea / Singapore... not been achieving the time sitting in silence as I would have liked, but doing my best to keep it going! No great insight to contribute this week other than it continues to amaze me that finding a den of calmness is so much harder than finding a busy work-out space! (And I think much more valuable as a result!)
Been away the past week skiing with my 4y.o., solo parenting in the snow has been fun, mostly consisted of Haribo & Hot-Chocolate bribes to stay out in the cold & learn. Lots of cardio every day for me, relatively healthy diet (plenty of sushi!), but I openly let wine/sake sneak in. Thought I’d share a pic of the little rascal who took me off track - though I’m back & 100% kompliant!
Eh ... I read the lesson, and I get it that we're going to beast each muscle group now and then given them a week to recover ... but SIX SETS of Barbell deep squats!! ?? I dialed back the weight fractionally in the hope I'd make it - and thankfully I did. The lunge-jumps however were my undoing - and on the third set I felt my left quad "pop" right up by my groin .... so I duly stopped. Anyway, that was about an hour ago, and it feels a little sore but pretty sure it's ok now. Will lay off the leg exercises for the next couple of days and see how it goes .... will need to be double-double strict on my grams as a result!
Side note: Completed a "Triathlon" on Saturday .... a 2yr olds b'day party (9:30am) / 4yr old b'day party (midday) / 5yr old b'day party (3pm). While the transition times were tight between event 1 and 2, I managed to squeeze in my protein shake between events 2 & 3. And when surrounded by snack food all day long - I searched deep for the Apex Predator within and only ate protein (and 1 slice of pizza). The first alcoholic beverage of the day was offered at 10am ... managed to steer clear the whole day.
(Picture from last of the parties!)
No excuses ... have not done a good job blogging. I have been busy, getting workouts in has been a struggle ... but by juggling the cardio day & splitting the workouts in two I’ve managed to stay on track. Diet has been ok ... meals all going to plan, though I’d score badly on non-kompliant biscuit/chocolate with my coffee. Alcohol has been zero, so at least that.
The lesson the other day on clock-punching & average workouts really rang true. I certainly do better when I get my regular lunchtime weights in ... I guess that’s when my cycles converge. Focus for the next week is to get more sleep & dodge the cookies completely! (Will need to if I want that 6-pack!)
Oh, regarding perspective .... now I’m thinking “Sh1t, only a few more weeks to go... gotta up my game!!” 😎
Enjoy the weekend ahead!
Diet has been something of a write-off these past few days as I indulge in some of the best eating in the Alps ... BUT ... leg days have been crushing it. No “workouts” though 5hrs of hard skiing a day has more than made up for it. Discipline restarts tomorrow & onto the home run.
I knew this was coming ... so had been particularly strict in the lead-up, and Monday morning I’m right back on track - already had eggs & salad for b’fast!
Anyway, attached pic is 16/25 courses from my indulgence meal 🙄. I was in Bangkok for the weekend with my wife, well behaved on alcohol (not zero, but relatively minimal) and got plenty of exercise (including 1on1 Muay-Thai for an hour). Next weekend I’m in Switzerland skiing ... will make it as compliant as possible, but I’m pretty sure there is a third indulgence - and I might be spending that one forward!! (No other excuses whatsoever until day 90 then I promise!)
