Who are you? Darren Simpson.. Married with a young daughter (the reason I initially signed up for Kenzai !!)
Where are you? I live in Johannesburg, South Africa. We are heading into Summer so the timing for my early morning training is perfect.
How do you spend your time? When i am not working for an Investment Bank, I love playing golf and have recently started playing a lot more tennis. Most of my free time however is spent with my family.
If you had a magic egg white what is the one thing you would change about Kenzai? I battled to think about anything.
If you were headed to a deserted island...not to be confused with Desert Island...what one book, movie, or album would you bring? i am currently reading a book, Younger for Longer by Duncan Carmichael. I have learnt a great deal about my health and what i need to do in the future.
What stands between you and peak condition? If could be an injury or something else altogether. Age!


Up and running

It was tough to get going this morning but once i got going it felt really good to be back in training mode. I need the structure of a Kenzai program to get me motivated so i am very happy to get going again

tough month 

For various reasons this was not my best program. I did however use it as a springboard for getting going again because as i mentioned on an earlier blog , I am targeting KB3 to end the year. So thanks for the help on this short program. I will see you on the blogs later in the year.

For various personal reasons i have found this short program tough.. not so much the training but finding the time to commit fully. Anyway i am pushing on as the big goal this year is a full on assault at KB3 for the year end and i need to be ready!


Beach blast is very interesting but also very tough. I find the blast section very taxing and can only just make the full time allocation. But i am really enjoying the program. Something very different.


Hello team, unfortunately i am going to pull out of Chisel. I have had an issue with my Achilles tendons and my Doc has said the tendonitis needs some rest. So chisel is not a great program for this with the DHT's and Burpees etc. I will be hitting the treadmill for light walks/ slow runs for at least a month. See you all on a future program!

Hello All .. Darren Simpson here

I live in Johannesburg, South Africa. We are going into winter right now so my early morning routine becomes harder by the day but i love the early morning so I dont need much motivation to get me going. I feel flat and tired if i dont get up and get some sweat going!

I have just finished Kenzai 2 and did not want to go straight into 3. Chisel seems like a good "filler"

As for a new activity, i have just started taking Tennis lessons and am really enjoying doing something so different. The different cardio workout is good and my tennis skills are improving by the week!

Just the start 

I have a goal in mind for the end of year and this KB2 round was the start of this year long goal. It was good start as i think this was my best program since my very first encounter with Kenzai... But as I have said, it is just the start and i am determined to push on and make this my best fitness and health year in a long time! Thanks for all the encouragement and support


I am enjoying the Cycle workout. It gets the heart rate going. Just a few more days to go but I definitely feel like i need to carry on going. Looking for the next program !


Clean week..

i had a good eating week but missed a few days of training unfortunately. Pushing hard for the next few weeks hoever


I played my local Golf Club's championships over the weekend. It is a grueling event both mentally and physically involving 2 rounds of golf. I would normally battle on the last afternoon as the toll of walking a tough course finally hits my body. This time however i ended very strong and felt good after the event. The current program i am on is the big reason for this in my opinion.


i have had a calf issue so i was advised to take it easy with the jump rope. I started running / walking on my treadmill which did not cause as must stress on my calves. I am really enjoying the treadmill and i am upping the intensity this week. lets hope the calves stay strong because i am enjoying the treadmill workout


good week so far

After a tough weekend where i slacked a bit on my diet and exercise i had clawed it back this week with solid sessions of exercise and diet. The exercising has ratcheted up which has been tough but good.


Tennis

I played an hour of tennis yesterday morning. I am not sure how many calories i burnt but using different muscles and movements really got the heart rate racing! I have not done short sharp burst for a while so it was good to do that again.


Feeling strong

My calf injury is feeling better but i am still not hitting the jumprope yet. I have been walking on a treadmill for a week and slowly getting up to running so improvement. I am actually enjoying the running/ walking so I think i will continue to mix it up a bit with the jumprope.
