A cool and crisp Kyoto morning. Took my jump rope and music out in front of the hotel. Must be pretty unusual as hotel staff, taxi drivers waiting in the taxi line, and all the people passing by looked at me like I was nuts. Nuts is a good place to be! Hahaha
Did Thanksgiving on Monday. Had leftover turkey for most of this week as my protein fix! Goes great in everything - wraps with guacamole, sandwiches and salads!
And another turkey in the oven tonight to re-stock the protein supply!
In the 73 days since our journey began have not been as sore as I was this morning. Legs, upper body, abs - nothing wanted to cooperate. Can still feel muscle soreness from yesterday.
Woke up on my birthday on Sunday morning to 2 things. First, a "cake" made out of tomatoes. Second, an indulgence! Well, scrap the tomatoes! Had the good fortune to enjoy pizza and cake with my family! That was a nice surprise from the Kenzai team!
But I have to admit that feeling so tired, dehydrated from all the salt, and waking up with an upset stomach was not amazing. Honestly wasn't craving an indulgence. Looking forward to more balanced meals!
So happy to be free of egg white dinners after 6 weeks!
Can finally have a bit more of a social life, actually participate in business dinners, and perhaps even eat with my family once in a while.
After hurting my knee back in early-October, it has been a long path doing alternative cardio every day for over a month to get back to jump roping. I am now back doing jump roping every day, and doing to do the same number of minutes as everyone. I cannot do the 4-5 minute jump rope intervals yet, but am working my way there. Huge respect for those of you who are cranking out the long jump roping sessions! Looking forward to slowly catching up - perhaps by the end of the program. The jump roping is definitely addictive (and tiring!!).
legs and butt still hurting from Monday leg workout, cardio turns out to be brutal when sore, but the good news is planks to close out the workout! - NOT! sucked! done!
For those who haven't jumped rope in the snow, highly recommended.
Note challenges -
- wind, need to jump faster to keep the rope from being blown
- and cold, body is fine, but fingers are not happy!
After a brutal schedule last week, this week is about focus. Feeling very high energy and keeping it going with lots of vegetables and fruit - since Patrick and company have taken the liberty of further reducing my morning carbs!!! V-sits are brutal (as are most abs!), but just doing it. Thought my legs were going to fall off this morning, but felt awesome!
Had 40 colleagues in town for meetings dinner. Exercise and breakfast/lunch are on plan. Having to do alternative dinner because I am not able to cook, but trying to stay disciplined with lots of veg. Not perfect, but happy given the circumstances. From tomorrow, 100% compliance and lots of egg whites!
Exhausted and happy - and people definitely notice the "new version" of me and are super supportive!
totally awesome. completely satisfied. ready to get back to healthy Kenzai eating.
Looking at my photos, feel like I am hitting a wall. Fortunately the nutrition team is taking more grams of carbs out of my diet. Pretty excited about that! hahaha
That being said, went on a run this morning for the first time since starting Kenzai, and felt light, strong, and each split through the run dropped even with the route home being uphill. Totally good with that! Pizza dinner indulgence tonight! Even better with that!
Diet is totally on track, but feeling really low motivation for the workouts. Getting everything in, but definitely lost some of that "freshness."
Could not be more psyched to be past the halfway point and looking forward to enjoying some pizza for my indulgence this weekend!
