COMPLETE!!! GRADUATION POST

I started thinking about doing PCP after seeing results from a few people I knew who had done it. My first thought when they were doing it was how intense it was. That's crazy...no way I'm committing to that...
But then I thought more about it. It is a lot harder to get in shape than it is to maintain it. If I can make it through 2 pregnancies, go through life with an infant twice, etc. then 90 days of strict diet and exercise is nothing! And if I am happy with how I look and feel then I'll be motivated to maintain it.
I hated the little belly that I couldn't get rid of after having my son. I hated the way my clothes fit. I hated having to buy a bigger size. I hated being one of the "big" girls. I will always have an athletic build. So I might as well look fit and trim! I had biceps under that arm fat. I had abs under that belly fat. It was high time to show them off!
I wanted to be more fit, healthier, stronger, have better endurance for dragon boat paddling...but it was definitely vanity that put me on the road to PCP.
I waited to start in September so that I would have the consistency and time to really commit to PCP and I am glad that I did. Now that PCP is over, I couldn't be happier with it.
I did 100% of the exercise. I didn't miss a single cardio session, a single set or rep, a single day. And after 90 days my body is tired and I'm glad to be scaling back a bit. But I am looking forward to starting a maintenance routine on Monday.
I was probably around 95% compliant on the diet. I stuck with my meals and snacks more or less on schedule. But after the first half, I snuck in a chocolate or two here and there. I ate close to PCP compliant in restaurants a few times...with more oil, salt, butter, etc. than I would cook with but making smart menu choices nonetheless. And it worked! I am a true believer that it is 80% diet that shapes your physique. And now I have made the lifestyle changes that will allow me to keep the PCP diet most the time but have my indulgences within reason - a few drinks, an occasional unhealthy meal, a little dessert.
Group Helios has been great. Thank you to everyone for your support, encouragement, and camaraderie Thanks to Patrick for coming up with this wonderful idea and making it a reality. Thanks to Thomas and Sarah for the great encouragement and advice. Team Perseus - it's been fun reading your humor, competition, and progress. And thanks especially to Shafi for committing to this with me - it has definitely been easier and more fun making this journey together!
My final results, by the numbers - weight down almost 10 pounds and body fat down almost 5%!
I thought I would be afraid of what's to come. Can I maintain? But I can now say with confidence that the ongoing commitment to healthy diet and exercise is one I am making!
I highly recommend PCP to anyone willing to make the commitment to change your body and lifestyle for the better. Do it for your family, do it for yourself, do it for how you look in a swim suit! And on that note:
