Excited to start Chisel today. I’ve been planning to do this program for awhile but have been a bit daunted by the high impact exercises because of my knee issues. I’ve finally decided to tackle it but be smart about modifications. In fact, I’ll be taking some notes on what I sub to share with the Kenzai powers that be so perhaps we can use that to help make this program more approachable for others who need lower impact. As I like to tell trainees, it doesn’t have to be perfect to be worth it!

Timing ought to be pretty good as I’m returning today from a long weekend in Singapore where the kids were in a soccer tournament. I’ve had too much beer and not the healthiest food options at the tournament venues. Today’s breakfast (pictured) was a start at cleaning it up. I have no major travel scheduled in the next 6 weeks. It is dragonboat race season so there may be some occasions for imbibing a little bubbly. But I plan to keep it reasonable.

And I’m training a big KB2 group that starts today. Going to be busy but I’ll still aim to be a good teammate to the Thoth crew!

      Excited to train with you Elissa. Similar, coming off some vacation and indulgence so looking forward to getting back to a clean diet. Also, having some knee issues from running so curious to compare notes along the way.

            This will be fun - Perhaps we should make a sub group for low impact - I have done a fair bit of work in this area - a challenge / goal is to be spent by the cardio, rather than hurt.

              Wow looks like a nice bunch of the kool kids are chizzlin...can't believe you've never done it, its great, fast and furious, good luck subbing in lower impact stuff (especially for those EWSJ, yuck!).

                  Welcome to Chisel~! I am Scott, your trainer. I am going to make the next 6 weeks of your life total hell. ;-) Good luck mate. You will ace it! Have you tried the DHTs before? IMO they are the most high impact exercises that we do a LOT on the Chizz. Why isn't Shafi on this too???

                      Love that there are so many of us Chiseling this round!
                      I'll try to post about subs along the way...but not sure I'll get to them in advance. My best advice is to be smart about it. I'll only do jumping exercises that I can land softly on (and I'll use a soft surface). Some exercises can be modified, i.e. yahoo jumps can be done well enough with a foot on the ground. Full body exercises can be subbed with other full body exercises. Better to do something safe than something stupid! I'll take a workout at 80% intensity over a workout that leaves me injured and not able to workout for a few days. It doesn't have to be perfect to be worth it!
                      @Burnsie - I have only read about the dreaded DHTs. I'm hoping I can do them with soft landing...but if not I'll have to see what kind of modifications I can do to keep them safe for my knees! Shafi is on the fence about joining in for this one actually...he's done it before...but a little nudge might find him signing up again!

                        Elissa, I am with the others, do offer your ideas for safe ways for lower impact for those of us with medical reasons, or just years of wear and tear to be aware of.
