Question of the week

  • Apr 14th, 2019 at 3:46PM

Pretty easy one for me to say this week’s exercise has been going well but the diet hasn’t. I’m travelling and completely out of routine with not being able to cook and jet lag meaning I’m not hungry at particular times then very hungry late at night. I have another week away so I will be tough on myself and keep trying to make the right choices but I’m looking forward to kicking it down when I get home.

Yep, traveling is always a challenge on the diet. You get a lot of practice to figure out what works though. Looking forward to hearing about you kicking it down.

It’s really tough when you’re travelling, I’m in the same position and I’m just guessing the portions. I’m hoping that a 1/4 carbs, 1/4 protein and 1/2 a plate of veg will be roughly right- although I have no idea what the size of the plate is supposed to be😂

I’m with you on the impact that sleep (or jetlag) can have on cravings and appetite. i have had some chronic sleep problems and when exhausted I’m far more likely to grab quick carbs or sugar for energy to get through the day.

Do what you can, little by little. Being conscious and aware of your choices is a huge step in itself i think. It’ll be easier next week.......

Yes, you are onto something. There is research that shows being tired tricks your brain into hunger, even if you are not. Hitting the diet hard this week is going to be the perfect antidote to a week of tough travels.

Traveling is so tough Elizabeth. Keep doing your best and know that when you're back on home turf you can make up for the trip with a few good weeks hitting your grams on target. Stay positive!
