Hello all. I've decided that while on Kenzai it's best to stick close to home. I was away this past weekend and all in all I think it went quite well but it wasn't easy. I brought my breakfast food, so I was ok there. Lunch and dinner were out and that was a bit tricky. I went with a small steak and lots of veggies, and then last night, the only option was a burger which I had plain with a salad. Everything seems very salty which I'm guessing is a good sign. Now remember my dessert party? It was tough but I resisted, sort of. Amongst the chocolate cake, and cookies, there was a beautiful coconut cream pie. I LOVE coconut cream pie.! It's my favourite! Sooooo, I had a half a teaspoon ......and it was delicious! And just when I was tempted to have a huge piece, I thought of all of your messages, telling me to be careful at the dessert party. And that did it. I said thanks, but no thanks, and that was the end of it. Now when do we get our first indulgence?
This week was definitely better than last. I love working out at home, and not having to go to the gym. It saves a lot of time, which I need to get organised in the morning. Just getting my head around breakfast is a chore. I bring my lunch to work so I have to figure that out too---not to mention making non-Kenzai lunches for the kids. I think I'll have to start getting up 15 minutes earlier.
On the diet front things are going well. I religiously eat all my grams---I don't feel stuffed at the end of a meal but I'm not hungry either. And the good thing is I can usually stay 'not hungry' until the following snack or meal. I sometimes get a craving before dinner so what I do is a grab a piece of bread or a veggie, subtract it from my carb allowance for dinner and that usually does the trick. I also try to acknowledge the craving and make it go away. And you know what, it works!
My biggest test will be on the weekend. We're going away and a friend (who loves sweets) has invited us to a 'dessert' party. I told her I would take 170g of fruit. We'll see where the temptation leads me. I'm not a big fan of sweet things in large amounts, but I do like a little something every now and then. That being said, the urge to have something sweet at the end of my meals is slowly starting to subside so I'm taking that as a good sign.
Will be off the grid for a couple of days. Have a great weekend everyone!
I have to admit, yesterday, Day 1, of the new diet, I was quite hungry in the afternoon. But today things are better. For one, the avocadoes that I bought on Saturday are finally getting ripe so this morning I was able to have one of those. I must remember to buy them periodically as to always have some that are ready to go.
Exercise is good. I had a bit of trouble with the pull down---I can't cross my legs if my life depended on it, but other than that I'm good. I love not having to head to the gym in the morning. Everything can be done at home---a real time-saver!
Yesterday I was thrilled to discover I had lost a few pounds this past week. This morning I checked out the lesson which said "take no pride in the weight you lost this week". Talk about a downer! Oh well, as my daughter would say---suck it up butter cup!
Stressful moment of the day---as I was testing out portion sizes on my scale, it (the scale) died. So here I am on the eve of week 2 with no scale. I'll wing it for tomorrow breakfast and lunch and buy a new one before heading home from the office.
My curiosity got the best of me this morning---so I got on the scale (something I don't usually do) and lo and behold I lost 3 pounds this week. I couldn't believe it! I still do feel hungry at times and when I do I start reading the blog posts. It gets my mind focused on the task at hand.
Just read today's lesson and am really looking forward to the actual meal plans. For me, this is when this adventure is really going to start!
Hello all! Great to be on Team Rana. Looking forward to working with you all, and hoping to get lots of support. My posts will usually come later as I think I'm at the other end of the world than most of you. (T8 was definitely not on my radar)
Workouts have been going great. Looking forward to ramping them up a bit. Food on the other hand, is a more of a challenge. I was starving for the first couple of days, but a little less last night and again this morning. I think my stomach is shrinking! Is that possible???
I'm used to working out regularly, so the exercise part is very manageable. This is a bit of a break from the usual routine. But I find the portion control is tough. I think I'd be better off not putting the 25% of my plate on my plate in the first place. I find I'm still hungry when I'm finished, even after waiting the recommended 20 minutes to feel satiated. So when I'm feeling hungry I go out for a walk---and that helps......a bit. Looking forward to having portions dictated to me. I think I'll be better with that.
Day 1 is now almost over. Exercise was fine. I haven't jumped rope since grade school! Leaving a quarter of the food on my plate worked out ok. I'm just afraid I'll start putting 25% more food on my plate as the week goes on.....
Looking forward to finally getting underway! Decided to forego my regular workout this morning and actually had Dairy Queen tonight. Can't wait to see what tomorrow will bring in the way of workouts or meals.
