Veggie Fail

Last week was marginal, so this week I was determined to be 100%. On Sunday, I did all my shopping and prepared a bunch of veggies for roasting. When the buzzer went off, the carrots were still a tad bit firm so I stuck them back in for 3 more minutes...and didn't set the timer. An hour later, I smelled something burning and discovered my beautiful veggies now inedible and carcinogenic. Such a bummer.

Here we are mid-way through the week. I have been 100% on workouts and about 90% on diet. "Kenzai Parenting" should be another course....Strategies to avoid eating their crusts, catching their germs, and mental preparation for how-to ignore their fighting, whining, and homework battles so you can squeeze in a workout.

Off to the gym for a mid-day workout. :)

thats tough. i remember my younger days. coming back from a late night and putting a frozen pizza in the oven. waking up several hours later and finding a big black burnt cookie. you get a do over. awesome effort and keep going strong

    Oh, what a shame! Hope you had some back up veggies in the fridge! As for eating kids' food, our bodies are not garbage bins, if you want some of the food you can serve yourself a portion :-). Hope you get some serenity after you work out, Jennifer!

      Nooooooooo! I roast veggies every Sunday and I've definitely made that mistake. Consider it a badge of Kenzai honor, and of course, you have something funny to blog about. I'm with you on Kenzai Parenting. So many of us face those challenges. Mine came up today when my husband said early this morning - I really need to workout. Oops. I was planning to workout this morning. Someone has to stay inside with the kids. So I'm checking blogs and trying to figure out when I will schedule my exercise time.

        Guilty here as well! I’ve had my fair share of burnt “experiments”.

        On the kids front. Prior to Kenzai, I too would be the one to finish up their leftovers but not anymore. I used to feel guilty throwing away their leftovers but I’m now more focused on a healthier me. For my workout, it’s on the family schedule and for the most part there are no conflicts to other activities.

          i’d sign up for the Kenzai parenting course! or even some sort of group sessions where we could leave our kids in the middle ans exercose around them or something
