Mom-Bod and proud

We seem to have a love/hate relationship with labels. We can use them positively to define desirable aspects and attributes. We use them liken ourselves to groups and communities. Labels can be both inclusive and exclusive. Positive and negative. The terms "Mom-Bod" and "Dad-Bod" are particularly irksome to me. Lifestyles change when children are added to a family unit. They have to, parents need to make accommodations and sacrifices. Now does one's heath and fitness need to be one of those sacrifices? Nope! It takes adjustments and time but modeling healthy eating and exercise for your children lays a solid foundation for them to have a healthy future. At the end of the day your kids probably aren't going to remember if you rocked a teeny bikini or had washboard abs. Your kids will remember spending time with healthy, active parents. They will enjoy and thrive from the ground work of healthy living. I say be proud of your "parent-bod." Taking care of yourself is never selfish!
