Flexing our brain muscles tonight. The Invertebrate Punsters are here to rock the Geek Bowl!
Carrot cake at a meeting yesterday. Normally I use my "oh I have to eat gluten free" as a perfect excuse and people don't pester me. Darn considerate people made a flippin gluten free cake! So now I have to go into the whole, thanks but I'm training. Them: "Oh what are you training for." Me: "Ya know, general fitness and to increase my health and endurance." Them: "You seem pretty fit already, one piece won't hurt." Me: "I'm sure it is delicious, I just really don't want to give in to cravings because I know it will be that much harder down the road." It goes on from there but in the end I held my own and didn't have cake. I was impressed with this woman's persistence, she wan't giving in. Eventually she had to stop pestering me because the meeting started. At the end she shouts "Hey, Kim one slice for the road?" I just kept walking. Today's lesson was timely, my inner Grok was urging "Grok want cake, Grok need cake."Glad I could keep him at bay. Don't know what is happening in my world right now. It seems like the universe is set to unabashedly test my willpower.
Our 2 year old has decided this week that 6:30 is her new wake up time. I realize that we were totally spoiled by her sleeping until 7:15/7:30 for as long as she did but the weekends are my only chance to sleep in and darn it, I need my training sleep! This morning I went into her room, told her "it's too early and mommy and daddy are still sleeping." I turned on her light, gave her books and toys told her I loved her and left the room. She wailed for a bit then to our surprise she was quiet until 7:45! Glorious!!! I felt like a new woman. After breakfast we went on a bike ride for our cardio option. Always "the mom" I packed a snack for everyone and we had a picnic at the pond while looking at ducks and cows. Then it was home for lunch, cooking and nap time (the baby not me). I got a little more exercise because it was so cold while I was at the park with the pup that I had to jump up and down to keep warm. That was basically a 30 minute session with the rope.
As promised here's a sample of our food exploration this weekend:
Ground chicken curry - just ground chicken with curry powder and cayenne (YUM!)
Spinach and stuff - frozen spinach, artichoke hearts, okra 1 can low sodium tomatoes and some smoked paprika
pair this with the curry and it's like you have a chicken saag. OMG I'm getting hungry just thinking about it.
Lastly, pictured is shrimp steamed with fresh ginger and a bay leaf, the "spinach stuff" and some random left over carbs.
I'm at a training right now. Yep should totally be paying attention and not blogging but oh well. They're killing me! There was chocolate on all the tables. Popcorn in the back and then they started throwing packages of Swedish fish at us when we answered questions. Seriously testing my will power. Here I sit thankful that I am armed with my salad, grilled chicken and rice. Swedish fish are a weakness and I'm salivating. Determined to stay strong!
Hi Kenzai Wold. I logged 2 totally compliant days after the Fritos incident. I've been going off my strict K-life diet so it will be interesting to see what the changes are next week. Weekends are always tough but Richard and I have decided we're going to cook together and see if we can create some fun compliant meals. We'll share any gems. Looking forward to getting grouped up. Here's a pic of the sleepy pup. We've been having such wonderfully warm weather this week there's been plenty of opportunity to play outside. Have a great weekend guys.
I had a long long day today and didn't pack enough food. Rookie move kid! I was so hangry that I finished off some Fritos that were laying around. Then I made some tea to try and tide me over until dinner. I happily scarfed down my food and had to keep myself from picking at the leftovers on my daughter's plate. I think that is going to be tough for me. I don't know why. I mean, what about slimy, cold pierogi sounds appealing? I'm going to take measurements to get some good solid data for this go around. Excited for diets to start next week.
Happy Kenzi-ing everyone.
Alrighty-roo here we go with KB2! I got up and hit the workout first thing in the morning. It didn't take much time at all so I enjoyed reading the lesson over coffee before my daughter woke up. O and I had a play date this morning. It is starting to warm up and the snow is melting to we ventured out by bike. It's nice to get some outside time before the next snow storm hits. The ride was a bit of a rude awakening to my legs. Her bike trailer is heavier than I remembered. Off to prep food for the week. Roasted root veggies and chicken. Happy Kenzai everyone.
The Denver Broncos have won Super Bowl 50. Perfect note to kick off my KB2 training. So ready to tear it down! Go Broncos! Congratulations boys.
The neighborhood kids built an awesome snow fort on my front lawn. We had a blast playing all morning. My house looks like a toynado came through. Good thing I hit my workout this morning. This momma is ready for a nap.
I really need to start checking the weather. I had no idea I was waking up to this. Time to hit a workout to warm me up! 20 minutes on the rope should be a good start.
Alright guys. Only 2 more days until you all hit day 90! We have a huge graduation coming up. Let's wrap it up in style! Big finishes everyone. What do you say you post a pic of those sweaty towels?
Since Ward is all jelly of my snow posts, I'm switching it up. Here's today's bit of happiness. Hula dancing awesomeness + loin cloths; because, why not? Enjoy!
There has been a flutter on the blogs about the KB2 lesson referring to all you stellar trainees as athletes. Since I can't post a photo in the comments of all your blogs I'm putting it here. All these ladies are athletes and SO. ARE. You! Give love to the different shapes, sizes and colors our beautiful, capable bodies come in. We are all working hard to maintain or improve our physical and mental health. We deserve to be called athletes too!
