This grumpy little guy was not pleased with Russel and me playing at the park so early this morning. He gave us a sound talking to.
A big WHAT UP and congratulations to my Heliotrope crew just graduating from KB1. You guys rocked it!
oops GRADUATION POST
I guess I jumped the gun with my graduation post. I kind of wrote it yesterday. It was an awesome run and I threw in some yoga last night to get a good stretch on. I'm feeling great today and look forward to getting my running shoes on more often. Going to take my final photo today. I feel like Russell the dog deserves to be in the photo too as he worked just as hard as me. Funny note, I noticed that his harness is a little looser than it was before K Run. Looks like K Run works for dogs too! Great work team, congratulations.
Final run done and dusted. It was a beautiful day today and tomorrow is supposed to rain again so I decided to get my run done today. It was a beast for sure but after about 30 minutes I hit a groove. I was feeling great. I did have to walk at one point as the route I picked was a little more up hill than I realized. I left the hound dog at home for this one. He was super sad to see me go but I promised to take him to the park later. I loved this program. The lessons were awesome and it felt so good to give my running shoes are workout again. I said my goal for this was to get back onto the trail and not get injured. Minus a little ankle twist I met my goal. My hip flexors, IT bands, quads, hamstrings and glutes got a good stretching as I did yoga on my cross training days (plus a little extra foam rolling.) I've even taken the fartleck idea into my skipping. I'll do about a minute as fast as I can go and then a 30 second rest. It's really helped to up my rope game too.
The program may be done by my love affair with the trail is back in full swing. Totally working more runs into my weekly cardio. I may even be brave enough to venture out with the jogging stroller. I didn't take Olivia out for any runs as I wanted to be able to focus on my form and I know that pushing a stroller will throw me for a loop.
Thanks Malia, Angela and Patrick for all their hard work getting this program off the ground. It's a great one! See ya'll back in K-Life.
"Don’t earn your food in the gym. Earn your strength in the gym. You don’t have to earn your food. You’re not a dog dancing for treats. You’re an independent badass uncovering even more awesomeness inside you." BOOM!
It is still pretty warm, so the hound needed a dip after our run. I was happy for the splash. Had a great run today and now we are off to the pumpkin patch.

Workout done this morning. I did my long run today as my ankle is feeling better. It was a doozy, I had to walk at one part but I'm pretty happy with my performance overall. 2 more weeks. Let's finish strong!
It was my birthday last week and we went out to celebrate this weekend. I decided that I would rather have dessert than wine or a drink. No problem there, my friends are super chill and totally didn't even notice when I ordered a soda water and lime. We went to a late night bakery for dessert where they make cookies to order. I had a mini gluten free carrot cake cup cake and a double chocolate gluten free cookie. Oh SO yummy! Much to my dismay I felt awful the next day. So tired and blah. I wouldn't have imagined that the sugar would have hit me so hard. Will definitely remember that when the next craving hits.
I normally go out to the trail and turn right, for some reason I decided to go left today. Big mistake. I'd forgotten how many hills are to the left. So fartlecks were done going mostly up hill. I will say that this was my fastest run to date (fastest being relative to me, it was still pretty darn slow. This was only my second mid day run and second run without the hound. I wonder if I have more energy mid day than in the mornings or if he really slows me down that much. Hate to leave the lil guy at home though.
Oh and my Mantra is "Give it to me, I'm worth it!"
2 truths and a lie
1) Sometimes I do lunges just because I'm bored.
2) The past 2 summers I've been to a party in a castle in Italy
3) My nickname playing college rugby was "Soul Train."
#1 is the lie - I hate lunges with all my heart and soul. I will; however, sometimes to squats because I'm board. The other 2 are true. :O) Time for Hemlock, Alder and Cypress to get their truths up.
I managed to get through today's run. It was not pretty. It's been unusually hot in Colorado the past couple of weeks, hence the early morning runs. I still wasn't feeling great this morning but I decided to push myself to get on the trails this afternoon. Holy hottness batman! Now that I've finally stopped sweating, I'm going to prep food for the week.
or dragging @ss if you prefer. I have not been feeling well these past few days. I could not get up the motivation for the fartlek run, I stumbled through yesterday's training and I'm trying to get up the motivation for today's run. I'm literally all kitted up as I type this, all I need to do is tie my shoes. But my head is pounding, Olivia is napping and I want to have a lie down too. Humm maybe a nap will fix my head and we can do a family run this evening.
Another nice run this morning and a beautiful sunrise. It's so cool to feel tangible differences in my running when I pay attention to my body position. The biggest one for me today was how far I lift me feet at the end of my stride. I really paid attention and lifted my foot higher. Big difference!
