Still struggling

I can not seem to get it together! I don't want to make excuses but damn! I have been slammed at work, have slacked on meal prep and therefore not eaten ad well as I should be. A direct result of these choices is that I am more tired throughout the day because I am not fueling my body properly! I keep trying and tell myself each day is a new day...but this is tough!

Hey Melyssa, this is tough - you are right! And getting "behind" can be so overwhelming, so is there a manageable goal you can set for yourself for tomorrow, one that is a challenge but doable for you?

    What is awesome is that you're still here and blogging. A kenzai program takes a lot- a lot of time, motivation, and consistency.
    If you don't have time to do the whole program then that's ok, but find ways to make consistent good little choices in your day and perhaps that's one way of making progress...

      This IS tough! I'm with Lindsay-- in those tough times when it feels like a grind, I try to choose one thing to focus on getting right each day. For me, especially when work is super busy, it's nailing my breakfast-- it starts me off eating right and setting that tone and expectation for the rest of the day. I also wouldn't survive Kenzai if I didn't batch steam or roast some veg and chicken that I keep in the fridge and replenish every couple days. It seems to make it easier for throwing together salads real quick. You've got this!!

        What's tough is making sure that you have many options. Don't forget the freezer. You can put fresh spinach in the freezer. You know the warehouse club plastic box? It can go right in the freezer before it spoils and it cooks up just fine. A little vinegar gives it some zip.

                  Try not to get down on yourself, Melyssa. There's still plenty of time left in this program, and you can still make great progress. Something I say to myself when I'm feeling overwhelmed is: "When you don't have time for yourself, it's time to take time for yourself."

                  And it sounds like that's where you are - feeling like you have no time to do the things you need to do for you. It's somewhat counter-intuitive, but if you take the time to do something good for yourself, you'll find it results in (dun-dun-DUN!) more time. Because when you take care of yourself, you're able to be way more efficient in everything you do.

                  So really: set aside an hour and do something to take care of yourself--cook up a bunch of meat or veg and parcel it out in the fridge so it's ready for tomorrow's inputs; get tomorrow's breakfast ready to go; take a walk; read for pleasure; get some goat therapy (that would be Ian's recommendation, and it's very effective). Take some you time to do whatever is going to help you get back on track. You can do this!!!!                     Hang in there and don't stop! My solution for life and work and business is trying to do big steams of vegetables on Sundays as well as cooking large amounts of meat. I put on a TV show or Netflix and just spend a couple hours in the kitchen getting it all ready for the week. hang in there!
