Silver Day15

  • Oct 7th, 2019 at 10:23PM

Temperatures indicate autumn has arrived; almost had to wear gloves on my morning walk.
Workout is getting tougher (but manageable) with 4 sets of repetitions on most exercises.

I weigh and measure myself once a week on Monday morning. Not so happy this morning ... even though I followed the diet tight (maybe a bit less on some points) I did gain 0.5 kilos. Normally I don't bother so much about these little differences, certainly feeling that the body is changing, but I was so convinced that finally this week I would be less than 100 kg ... Have to watch that it does not become a psychological barrier!

Way to blog it out!

Menno, it can be deflating when the scale doesn't corroborate what you are feeling and seeing. But it doesn't have to be. Remember that you could be adding muscle while dialing down the fluff. That could result in the scale actually going up. We are always looking toward body composition changes rather than that number on the scale. That said. Let's do a food check.

Are you adding in oils or butter that are caloric free riders on some of your veggies?
Are you eating any dehydrated foods like cereals or oatmeal?
Is there a food item that is off piste that has somehow crept into your routine (I used to sneak saltine crackers from time to time during an otherwise super strict KB3 training cycle)?

The answers to these questions could help make some tweaks to your routine that'll help your physique really sparkle in the weeks ahead!

Welcome back Ward and thanks for the food check!
I don't eat any cereals, crackers or oatmeal and use no more than a dessert spoon of olive oil for cooking or salad dressing. My carbs are usually a fresh wholewheat bread roll from the bakery, pasta or steamed rice (about 100 grams).

I was disappointed about no weight loss when I expected so much but does not worry me (yet 😃). I'm having a 'sophisticated' scale with palm and food pads that measures % fat, water and muscle mass among things. Fat went down 1% and muscle mass up 1%. Still not sure how accurate that is but will see what that does over the course of the program.

I remember the first time I did Silver .....I was complaining to Ward about not losing weight....he came back to me with similar comments he gave you. I stopped weighing myself until end of program. I had lost those few pounds that I had obsessed about in the beginning. JBB
