Reboot - Day 14

First post in some time. Kind of embarrassed. Waist is growing. Pants all too tight and getting tighter. Look and feel like a mudslide. Diet a bit of a mess. Stress and anxiety eating.

Wish I could say the first 2 weeks were great. Kind of half in and half out - . Which means all the way out when it comes training. Key West was a bit of a washout. Got a couple workouts in but the eating - some late night street meat and pizza - post drinking didn’t help. Just too much of a booze trip to be on diet. Wasn’t awful but wasn’t tight either. And then I came back and had a crappy week of fitness. Knee bothering me so I only got a couple trips to the gym in. Having tough time getting up early to get my workouts in before heading to the office. That’s the key and I have been failing. Made a pact with my bride to kick me out at 6 am and get me to gym. Good start to the day helps everything. In town for a couple days before heading to Philly for work and see family. One client dinner. Everything else has to be clean.

Try and get back at it. One day at a time. See how I do..

Day 90 - Grad Post (repost) 

What a congratulate everyone for working so hard and sticking to it and completing a challenging program. I’m sure you’re feeling good and lean and strong. You deserve it. Also want to thank everyone for their kind words and condolences. It’s been a tough five months for me as my Father was diagnosed with cancer on November 3. Passed away on March 3. Unfortunately I’ve kind of let myself go mentally and physically while he was sick and during the 30 days since he passed. Been having a difficult time finding motivation to work out and eat clean.

I weighed myself yesterday morning. Checked In at 162 pounds. Waist probably a 33/34. Had to get a few suits let out. I was 150 pounds and a 31 waist on Sept 30.

I need to get my game on and get back to working out on a regular basis and eating clean. Got to stop stress eating. Got to get some sleep. Basically I need to start caring again. With my dad being sick and passing none of this seem to matter. Still really doesn’t matter.

I need to find that kenzai balance! Can’t say it’s gonna be easy and that I’m gonna be able to succeed. But I’m gonna have to figure out a way of trying again. Have to figure out how to care.

So here we go again. Looking forward to getting my game on. Put on a few pounds during the fall. Soft around the midsection. Got to shed the fat and get lean again.

Feel like I’m in a decent position with strength and body (Fewer aches and pains) going into KB2. Been getting in 15 minutes of jumping every other day or so.

Got to get the crap out of the house. Wife and three daughters have their junk food (And they have better discipline than me) and that can make it difficult. Got to Avoid the beers with chips and guac at night. Stay away from the handful of M&Ms here and there.

Need to get back to the daily workouts. Hoping to be able to throw in pull-ups and chin-ups to avoid some of the time consuming band work. Get in and out. That’s my goal.

Looking back and forward

Quite a year. Started KB1 last January. Complete game changer for me. Dropped 15 pounds and 3 waist sizes (plus Chisel and KB2). New way of exercising and looking at what I eat. Nothing more than some focused concentration and elbow grease. No excuses. No gimmicks. No bullshit.

Was kind of psyched to see that I burned thru the cable (just about 1 year from purchase) on my jump rope. Got a new cable and ready to rock 2019. But got to stay healthy. Plan is to jump every other day.

Ready to make another go at KB2. Weighed myself this am. 158.5. That's 8 pounds heavier than I was end of summer. Pants a little tighter (and one new pair already on the top shelf waiting for me to drop a few. Hope the mantra (easier to burn off new weight/fat) holds true. Ready to work.

Got to stop the stress/anxiety eating. Have had some tough family health issues to work thru. Some people starve themselves when theyre upset - others like me tend to eat. Got to focus and eat clean thru everything.

Day 20 workout

650 jumps straight without stopping. That’s a first for me. Could’ve gone longer. Rope makes a huge difference. Calves burning


Day 20

Good eating last few days. Really sticking to the diet. Missed two days of working out while traveling for business. Bit ate clean and no drinking while I was gone so feel better about it. Just wiped out from work and travel. Back at it today.


Smoothies

Any good Kenzai recipes for smoothies to get in my daily yogurt and my afternoon fruit. Figure that would be good snack middle of afternoon? Will bring to work.


Workout and home cooking

Good to be home. Ate really well today with some home cooked meals. Worked out in my house for the first time today. Pretty easy. I am able to jump rope in the living room as ceiling is plenty high. Can’t find a good place to anchor bands at home. Have a bench and assortment of dumbbells in the basement. Just switched out the band exercises for dumbbells. Easy.


Band color

Any thoughts on band color for workouts? Yellow doesn’t seem to have enough resistance. Going with blue for everything other than Da Vinci where I used the red.


Business trip

Kind of fell off the wagon for a couple days. Got my workouts in and ate well during the days but evenings out got a little out of control. Too much drinking. Feel like I wasted all of the work I put in.

Back in the saddle again!


Carbs

Any thoughts on purchases for pasta, bread and rice. Bought whole wheat pasta, long grain brown rice and sprouted whole grain bread? No sugars or high fructose corn syrup. Would love to go regular pasta if there isn’t a big difference between white and whole wheat.


Day 5 workout

Feeling the rope on the calves and feet along with the core work. Always suck at core work. Haven't used those muscles/tendons in some time. Looking forward to building up the strength and endurance by doing this every day. 2 sets pull-ups to finish each workout. Got 8 in first and 4 in second. Wonder where I will be in 90 days.
